Solid Waste Regulation involves inspection and code enforcement of licensed solid waste facilities and licensed waste haulers, and the investigation of illegal dumping.
Scott County is committed to increasing recycling rates and organic recovery by the year 2030. The purpose of this grant program is to reach out to businesses and help them increase recycling-organic efforts and achieve compliance with State requirements.
Organics make up roughly 30% of what we throw away. Food scraps and food-soiled paper products can be recycled into valuable compost which is used in landscaping and road construction projects.
Each spring, several cities and townships in Scott County sponsor a Recyclable Material Collection Event. These “Cleanup Days” offer residents the chance to dispose of their excess recyclable materials and yard waste.
