CH 59: From TH 169 and CH 7

  • Start Date: September 23, 2019; weather permitting
  • Traffic Control Changes: CH 59 will be closed and work will be sectioned into 2 stages.  Stage 1 access will remain open to local CH 59 businesses at the intersections of US 169 and CH 59. Stage 2 is expected to start Monday, October 7; weather permitting and to last up to 4 weeks. CH 66 thru traffic will remain open. CH 59 access will be limited to local residents only. Road closure map listed below in the Related Documents section.
  • Stage 1 North of CH 66 to US 169 Work Description: Involves milling 3 inches of bituminous, recycling and asphalt rejuvenation on the next 3 inches, and paving a new 3 inches on top of the cold-in-place section.
  • Stage 2 CH 7 to CH 66 Work Description: Cement stabilization, involves removing the existing bituminous layers, mixing cement up to 8 inches deep into the existing aggregate base, and paving 4 inches of new bituminous on top of the cement/aggregate section.   

CH 5: From Laredo Ave and Hickory Blvd


  
  • Start Date: June 17, 2019
  • Traffic Control Changes: Road will be open to traffic during construction. Milling will begin on Monday, June 24, 2019.
  • Work Description:  Work includes removing 4.5 inches of the existing bituminous and replacing with 4.5 inches of new bituminous, seal coating, and sign replacement.
  • Completed: July 1, 2019

CH 53: From US Hwy 169 and TH 19


  • Start Date: July 8, 2019
  • Traffic Control Changes: Road will be open to traffic during construction.
  • Work Description: Work includes removing 4 inches of bituminous and replacing with 4 inches of new bituminous, seal coating, and sign replacement.
  • To Be Completed by: TBD

CH 16: From Sarazin St and CH 83


  • Start Date: July 8, 2019
  • Traffic Control Changes:  Road will be open to traffic during construction.
  • Work Description: Work includes removing all of the approximately 5 inches of bituminous and replacing with 5 inches of new bituminous, seal coating, and sign replacement.  Intersection pedestrian ramps will be improved for ADA compliance, and the existing bituminous trail along this segment will receive a 1.5 inch overlay and slurry seal.

CH2: From TH 13 and CH 23


  • Start Date: August 13, 2019
  • Traffic Control Changes: Road will be open to traffic during construction.
  • Work Description: Work includes removing 5 inches of the existing bituminous and replacing with 5 inches of new bituminous, sign replacement, and seal coating.
  • To Be Completed by: August 26, 2019

CH 89: From CH 8 to CH 2


  • Start Date: August 26, 2019
  • Traffic Control Changes: Road will be closed during construction.
  • Work Description:  Work includes milling 5 inches of the existing bituminous and replacing with 5 inches of new bituminous, seal coating, and sign replacement.  This work also includes an area of slope repair that consists of full width, full depth reclamation for a length of approximately 450 feet.

    Purpose & Justification

    This annual project is part of the Countywide pavement preservation program. Overlays are performed on a regular basis to preserve the initial paving investment and provide additional safety enhancements.  Please drive with caution.
